Shot Through The Hea--Ahem, leg. And MOM's to blame...

0 Pensive Blurps
Thursday:

Eva was up at 6 AM!! YIKES!!! Little goober GOBBLED down her milk--9 OUNCES!! Porker. She was super hungry.. and super gassy. Hahaha.. She pooped twice within the first hour!! Aiden and TK were up at seven.. Made em both breakfast and packed TK's lunch and set Aiden up with the Kindle on the couch. (We think he may have gotten woken up by TK's alarm this morning... especially since he went to bed so late last night and without any nap.) I put Eva down for her 1st nap early and got a head-start on pumping. After such a late night last night I was REALLY not expecting such an early morning today, but I guess that's motherhood for ya, right?

Later in the afternoon both kids had to get flu shots :( Such a sad outing... Aiden actually knew exactly what was coming this time. I asked him to pull down his pants and immediately, "No! No hurt Aiden, Mommy! No, please" yeahhhh... I suck. I explained it all to him, told him what would happen. And then tried to lay him down on the exam table and he just started crying. I was kinda mad at the nurse though. She didn't restrain his legs. I mean, I was clearly doing my job up top (I've always been good about holding my kids down without even needing to be asked.. "for the greater good" and all).. but she was stabbing his thigh and she didn't forsee him jerking his leg up?! I'm pretty sure he made it hurt a lot worse than it needed to... and she didn't help.

On a side note: Am I the only mom who has never actually cried when her child has gotten a shot? Or six? I mean... I know its horrible and heart breaking and you feel so badly for them and wish to take away their pain... but I don't physically cry. And I swear, every mom I know posts on facebook "I don't know who cried more, me or them" type stuff.. Am I that bad??

Anywho. Eva was next. She laid down, we held her, and shot went in, out, and about 3 seconds later, she too cried. Ha. The delay got me though... it all went too fast for her and her face was like, "what? whats going, oh wow, what, what was that, hey! you did that!!" aaaaand cry.

They are troopers. Aiden was thrilled to get a sucker. And then we went home and got ready for his friend Logan's Superhero Birthday Party. Yupp, Spiderman and Wonderwoman both made appearnaces :) He loves our costumes!! And he's always asking to put them on so he quickly forgot about his leg. We had a blast with friends and some yummy food.

I am so grateful for the friends that we have made. They are the best and Aiden has so many friends. I THOROUGHLY enjoy our time spent with all of our friends and hope that they always know it!! :)

Nailed it.

Ok, people, today was AMAZING. It is incredible what a fresh new attitude can do!! I even had a horribly crappy night sleep last night, but still, I woke up determined to make today be different, to have today be AMAZING... and it was.

Eva was up at 7--simultaneously with TK's alarm. I fed her and making TK's lunch Aiden woke up. We said goodbye to daddy and Aiden and I had some oatmeal and chocolate milk :) Then, bath time was requested--my kids LOVE bath time--so they played in the tub until it was Eva's nap time. While she slept, Aiden got his only screen time of the day so that I could pump.

After that was over, my visiting teachers (2 friends from my church that periodically check up on me and hang out) came over and we all played on the floor with Aiden and his puzzles and blocks. He LOVED the attention and was showing off big time! Eva even came out to join in all the fun! After my friends left, I really wanted to take a couple of Christmas shots of the kids and got some AWESOME ones (see last post). They are just too cute for words and I love them dearly.

After photos it was lunchtime for all. Eva enjoyed some squash and whole wheat baby cereal and Aiden ate TWO and a HALF corn dogs!!!! Holy porker. Time for books followed by an awesome Tupperware drum session and dance party and then back down for naps goes Eva. Aiden and I had some wonderful one on one time (we made a Christmas tree from construction paper and glued on ornaments and cut snowflakes and hung them around the room) until I tried to get him to nap... he stayed in his room quiet for half an hour until Eva woke up.. then he came out pretending like he just woke up. I let it slide and we continued to play!

Then we decided to bake some banana bread---I CAN'T MAKE BANANA BREAD TO SAVE MY LIFE!!! I've tried so many times, and somehow, it always fails. Tonight wasn't horrible, but it wasn't as good as it should have been. And then it was time to make dinner. Grilled ham and cheese :) TK got home just in time to help.

After dinner, Aiden's best bud came over to hang out while his parents went on a date! Aiden LOVED hanging with Carter!! They were running all over the place!!! He was getting all sweaty and worn out so I hope he sleeps in tomorrow!!! Cuz this mama is still needing a shower tonight!!

OHHH!!! And after ALL this, while there are definitely some dishes that I probably should clean up tonight (but won't)... Aiden's room and our living room are clutter free!! Oh yeahhh, that's what I'm talking about.

Here's some documentation of the happiness: (On a side note: Aiden is getting REALLY good with the camera...)

I am so blessed to be the mother to two completely amazing kids!! They're so much fun and full of laughter! I am so excited for this new adventure that we're going on together and am so grateful that they are so patient and forgiving with me even when I'm not with them. They rock.

Christmas Pictures!!

COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!!! LOVE THESE TWO GORGEOUS CHILDREN AND ALL THEY BRING TO MY LIFE!!!

Trial and Error

So yesterday was day 1 of TK's job. He, I'm sure, did awesome. We, on the other hand, didn't.

I failed. No the kids didn't die, and they still have all of their apendages.. but come on now, if that's really that standard we're going by, I should just send them to live with their grandparents, right?! :)

But seriously. At the end of the day, looking back, I am not proud of how the day went. I mean, yes I did clean the kitchen and do the grocery shopping.. but that was after TK came home and after the kids were in bed.

If you think I'm exaggerating, I'm sure my browser history could prove it. I watched a show or two, I skyped my sister as often as I could, I trailed facebook like my life depended on it--and at times, it seems like Aiden's did. I put Aiden in front of a show.. I tried, so hard, to not try. Everything Aiden was doing seemed to annoy me. And I was more edgy than normal. Laziness is my weakess. And this begins the fight to overcome it.

Now, if your a closeted, shameful judgy-mom like me (you know, the kind that hates that secretyly her initial response is to think, "what kind of mom _____" and THEN tries to think more christlike...) then you're probably thinking, "what kind of mom would ignore her kids like that.." or even "what kind of mom would suck so bad and then go on to write it all on a public blog!?" well here's why. I need the motivation. I realize that yesterday, I sucked. I realize that I put trying to ignore my children and get a moment of peace ahead of putting in time with them and truly enjoying them and our day together. I realize that, now. And so now, I have to change. But if no one knows, if no one holds me to it, if I don't have someone to say to, "GUESS WHAT WE DID TODAY??? " then what is to stop me from continuing in this bad habit?

So yes, I failed. Will it happen again today? Hopefully not. But so far, I've given both kids breakfast and bathtime :) And now Aiden's watching a show while Eva naps and I pump. Next up, Mommy and Aiden Clean Aiden's Room!! Yayyyy fun-ness. ha.

November Overview

0 Pensive Blurps
November was a great month.. but then again, aren't they all?!

We had a lot of fun with the kids and wanted to share some memories. I love how well Aiden and Eva play together. Aiden can ALWAYS get Eva to laugh. Peek-a-boo. Silly Faces. Even just saying her name can warrant a chuckle from this little one. And when she smiles, she smiles with her whole face, a big, giant gummy smile!!!

Aiden is such a morning person... I am.... sometimes. But this day that TK captured... was clearly not one of them. But in my defence, nothing is more relaxing than snuggling with this guy.

Eva is still rolling around like crazy.. back and forth and all over the place. OH, and still smiling, as always :)

7 months old, isn't she getting so big!! I can't believe how she seems to get cuter and cuter everyday.

I don't care what TK says, I LOVE bows. And she wears them so well!!!

Hahahahaha, ok, what mom doesn't like pics like this!?

Aiden LOVES apples. He asks for one everyday, at least once. Even watching me post this, he just looked up and said, "mmm, apples?! I hungry, I need some apples!" and then when I didn't respond due to typing it out, he attempts to get my attention by putting his hand into the shape of a gun, clicking his tongue, winking, and "pulling the trigger"--simultaneously. OH MY GOSH! Can you get any cuter, kid!?

I love these three. They make my every day.

Happiness.

Eva loves reading books.

Aiden loves snuggling on the couch.

Even in November its warm enough to go to the park in a simple hoodie. LOVE the weather.

Eva loves bath ALMOST as much as her brother did... can ya tell from the smiles?

Concord Christmas parade with friends!!

Stake "Barn" Dance--Aiden danced his BUTT off!! It was a blast.. he sure loves "Dance Potties!!" aka. Dance Parties ;)

Just enjoying the books and snuggles.

Playing Family Bingo for Thanksgiving--Thanks again, Nana!!

Just your normal mornings...

Forever blessed.
